The Mardi Gras Museum chronicles the history of Mardi Gras in Galveston since the celebration began in the city in 1876. It is located in The Strand in downtown Galveston, the entrance to the museum is through Midsummer Books. Exhibits include intricate costumes, memorabilia, photographs and models of the eight Galveston Mardi Gras arches designed in 1986 by world-renowned architects.

Open Mon. - Fri., 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.; Sat., 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.; Sun., 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
